Moby: Deep Cuts - Not many artists can claim to have remixed Soundgarden, David Bowie, and Daft Punk, but Moby's diverse background leaves him well-positioned for such stylistic border-hopping. “Harbour,” with Sinead O'Connor, is a wistful take on Americana; “Dog Heaven,” from his Voodoo Child alias, is a weightless ambient miniature. “Barracuda,” on the other hand, is industrial-tinged techno at its noisiest.

Best Of Ed Banger - With apologies to James Dean, it's well established that the French pretty much invented cool, and Paris' Ed Banger label renewed the patent for at least another lifetime. Busy P's band of rebels—like Justice, SebastiAn and Feadz—have perfected a louche, sleazy fusion of house, disco and electro that can make going out to get the paper feel like all-nighting in a Left Bank boîte.

Josh Wink Essentials - Philadelphia native Josh “Wink” Winkelman first gained notice as a producer in the '90s after a string of New York club hits. He broke through in 1995 with a series of anthemic singles that dominated the European dance charts, spilled over into the pop charts, and earned him the indisputable rep as the year's biggest dance act. He collected these iconic tracks on 1996's Left Above the Clouds, then signed to Columbia in '97 and released his proper debut, Herehear, in '98. The following years saw more club hits as well as collaborations with boldfaced names like Trent Reznor.

Miss Kittin Essentials - The French DJ and producer first broke through on the dance scene in 1998 when she collaborated with The Hacker on Kraftwerk-inspired single “1982”. By the time of I Com, her debut solo album in 2004, she was incorporating elements of Chicago house and punk, as heard on the thunderous “Requiem for a Hit”. While remaining true to her electroclash roots, Miss Kittin has maintained her cult status by adding elements of industrial techno to her sound, and via collaborations with other EDM artists, such as British house DJ Riton on the warped electro track “Girls in the Hood”.

Pendulum Essentials - Not long before Pendulum moved to the UK in 2003 to become Australia's most successful dance music export, the Perth band's core members, Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen, had only ever played in heavy metal bands. Following an overnight conversion to electronic and dance music, mixing in elements of their hard rock roots, Pendulum found a ready-made audience at home and abroad. Both 2008's In Silico and 2010's Immersion charted strongly, with the latter reaching No. 1 in the UK.

Mr. Oizo Essentials - Mr. Oizo brings a healthy dose of mayhem to the French electronic scene. Where many of his peers emphasize heady grooves and sleek textures, the devil-may-care producer born Quentin Dupieux delights in dial-tone buzz and stuttering chord stabs. Licensing his 1999 single "Flat Beat" to a TV commercial helped introduce his off-kilter funk to the world at large, and he later signed to Ed Banger, whose high-energy antics were inspired by the same playfully messy aesthetic. Off the dance floor, Dupieux's soundtracks to his own gonzo films feature some of his most exhilaratingly out-there tunes.

Kavinsky Essentials - The title sequence in Nicolas Winding Refn's film Drive is one of the most memorable in modern cinematic history. It led viewers to wonder about the man whose “Nightcall” serves as a premonition and a warning for the film's characters. Kavinsky is a French producer whose sound, reminiscent of Justice and Cerrone, combines full-throttle beats with a sweeping orchestral touch. His “Nightcall” is just the tip of the iceberg.
