“Energy” has been a word associated with River Valley Worship ever since singer/songwriter Ryan Williams launched the project in 2011. Bottling the exuberance of their appearances around Minnesota, the band’s albums showcase praise & worship that is upbeat about God while doubling down on songcraft and musicianship. Initially locked into a punchy brand of alt-rock, they’ve grown increasingly enamoured with sparkling pop hooks. Featured on 2022’s <I>Faith in Our Time</I>, the emphatically shouted “Straight to You” is an invigorating example of how River Valley Worship don’t just get hands in the air; they get feet off the ground as well.

Hillsong Young & Free's success since their founding in 2012 is proof that young Christians in the 21st century are increasingly craving praise & worship that's cutting-edge, diverse and fun. Where their traditionally minded predecessors, Hillsong United and Hillsong Worship, lean heavily on rock-inspired ballads, Y&F are all about exuberantly positive tunes informed by modern pop: EDM's dance-floor bounce, synth-pop's neon hooks and hip-hop's bass-thumping fun.
