With its brutally honest, witty and catchy lyricism, <i>Man’s Best Friend</i> dominated the Apple Music charts; churned out viral anthems “Manchild”, “Tears” and “When Did You Get Hot?”; and solidified Carpenter as a mainstay in pop music. Get familiar with Sabrina Carpenter on Today’s Hits—as if you aren’t already—and if you hear a song you like, add it to your library.

Rap Life is home to hip-hop’s heavy hitters and its vanguard—the songs that speak to the moment and define the culture today. For so many years now, that’s been the work of Tyler, The Creator, and 2025 was no different. In July, the MC dropped <i>DON’T TAP THE GLASS</i>, his second album in a 10-month span, and from the outset of album opener “Big Poe”, it was clear he was on a different type of time. Sure, he was rapping his behind off, as someone with Tyler’s skill set is wont to do, but he sounded freer than ever, maybe finally able to celebrate the world-shaking cultural impact he’s had by way of some of the most danceable music of his career. The music of <i>DON’T TAP THE GLASS</i> sounds very little like what he spent his young lifetime building into his legacy, and like any true genius, Tyler wouldn’t have it any other way. If the music we loved in 2025 tells us anything, it’s that this was a great year for a reset. Everywhere we looked—and listened—our biggest stars seemed to be offering truths wrought from self-reflection and even actionable items to right our personal ships. Relationships, to be specific, were at the heart of so many eye-opening and also foot-tapping moments, like Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild”, Gracie Abrams’ “That’s So True” and Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need”. See that—even superstars get frustrated. But it’s not as if they’re unwilling to share solutions, like on Kehlani’s “Folded”, a tale of letting go of that which does not serve you. So many of our faves saw fit to look inward this year, realising that’s where the magic is—like Lady Gaga on “Abracadabra”, or when BLACKPINK told us what true sisterhood feels (and sounds) like on “JUMP”. There were songs about loss (Bad Bunny’s “DtMF”), but just as frequently ones that celebrated what it means to be alive, our heroes enjoying the fruits of their labour, like Drake’s “NOKIA”, Clipse’s “Ace Trumpets” or CORTIS’ “GO!”. Like a conversation with a cherished friend, so many of the songs we loved in 2025 delivered wisdom, reflection and, inevitably, release. These are the best songs of the year across all genres as chosen by our editors.
