Apple Music Replay 2022: How to Find Your Top Songs

April 22, 2024

Apple Music Replay is here, and it allows Apple Music subscribers to relive the music that defined their year. Here is everything you need to know about getting your top 100 songs based on your listening habits in one handy playlist.

Haven’t you listened that much until now? Then your playlist just gets a little shorter. The more time spent listening you have, the more diverse your yearly playlist will be.

Apple Music created this function as a response to Spotify Wrapped, the streaming service that pumps your favorite songs and artists into a personalized playlist.

While Spotify Wrapped is released each year around December, Apple Music users must wait until mid-February to get their overview. Once it is released, the Replay playlist is updated weekly to feature your top songs throughout the year. It is like a highlight reel of your listening habits.

If you don't want to wait for Apple or Spotify Wrapped, you can check your top songs, artists and albums any time with FreeYourMusic stats.

You Apple Music Replay is ready

You'll find the playlist at the very bottom of the Listen Now tab, alongside Replay lists from previous years. It's possible that it will take a while before the list is visible to you. This also has to do with how many songs you have already listened to this year. You won't see the list if you haven't listened to Apple Music enough this year.

In this playlist, you will find the songs that you have listened to the most this year, i.e., from January 1st. The playlist is updated every Sunday with new additions, so it's a good way to keep track of what you've been listening to over the coming year. Your play count makes a difference week on week.

Apple Music Wrapped - your musical annual overview

Unlike Spotify Wrapped, the Apple yearly round-ups is available all year round. It constantly keeps track of your played songs and artists and uses that to create a playlist of your choice.

It also goes back to songs that you often played a few years ago. This list allows subscribers to see if their music tastes have evolved or not.

2022 is almost over, and that means that the time of year-end lists has arrived. These playlists are a musical annual overview of your 100 most listened to songs in the past year. You can easily create the playlist by following the steps below:

  1. Open the browser on your Apple device and go to the official Replay website;
  2. Optionally, log in with your Apple ID credentials when you see the sign-in screen;
  3. Tap the button to create your playlist (year overview).

Apple Music creates a playlist containing your most popular songs. You can listen to this playlist in the browser or app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

In addition to popular artists, Apple's year-end overview also collects some interesting statistics. For example, you can see who you like to listen to. You also get a run down on how many hours you've listened to these artists.

Apple Music Recap vs. Spotify Wrapped

Technically speaking, Apple's version of Wrapped isn’t a real annual overview: the playlist is updated weekly (every Sunday). This way, you can also look back on your favorite music during the year. However, the music service always puts the Replay button in the spotlight at the end of the year, so that it’s seen as an annual overview.

How to find the Apple Music Replay overview

You can check your personal yearly playlist here: https://music.apple.com/replay.

Here you log in with your username and password and press the blue button to create the playlist. Apple Music then puts together (a maximum of) a hundred songs, which you have listened to the most this year. The feature is also available one other Apple devices.

As with Spotify Wrapped 2021, Replay also compiles some interesting stats. For example, you can see who your favorite artists were from a particular year. In addition, you get an overview of the number of hours that you have listened to these artists.

The playlists are available in a number of categories. This way, you can overview not only your personal top 100, but also the top songs selected per country. In addition to the worldwide top 100, this year you’ll also find the 100 most read lyrics and the top 100 Shazam discoveries.
