Spotify Wrapped Not Working? 9 Fixes and How to See Your Top Songs Anyway

Every year, the same wave of panic: the Wrapped feed won't load, the share cards hang, your top artist looks wrong, or a friend is posting their Wrapped and your app shows nothing at all. The problem is that "Spotify Wrapped not working" is really three separate problems wearing the same coat, and the generic clear-cache-and-reinstall advice only helps with one of them.
So before you reinstall anything, work out which of the three you have: Wrapped hasn't launched yet, your account isn't eligible (or your listening was excluded from the data), or your app genuinely has a fault. Each one has a specific check. Below are those checks, the nine fixes worth trying in order, and what your listening data looks like outside Wrapped — which is the fastest way to tell a display bug from a data problem.
Is Spotify Wrapped out yet? What we know about the 2026 date
Start here, because it is by far the most common reason Wrapped "isn't working" in October and November: it isn't out yet.
As of the date this article was checked (October 9, 2026), Spotify has not announced a release date for 2026 Wrapped. We are not going to invent one. What is documented is the precedent:
- 2025 Wrapped was announced on Spotify's newsroom on December 3, 2025.
- The 2024 Wrapped campaign post is dated December 4, 2024.
That points to a late-November-to-early-December window, with no guarantee attached. If it is still November and your Home screen has no Wrapped feed, nothing is broken — there is simply nothing to load yet. The reliable signal is Spotify's own newsroom and Wrapped site announcement, not a banner in someone's screenshot.
One more thing worth knowing before you troubleshoot: Spotify's support page states that "Wrapped and some Wrapped features may not be available to all users, as they're subject to specific eligibility criteria." In other words, a missing Wrapped is sometimes the expected outcome, not a bug to be chased.
Start here: three reasons Spotify Wrapped is not working
Find your symptom in the left column. That tells you which section of this article to read, and saves you from applying app fixes to an eligibility problem.
| What you're seeing | Which of the three causes it is | The check that confirms it |
|---|---|---|
| No Wrapped feed, no banner, nothing in search — and nobody else has theirs either | Not released yet | Look for this year's Wrapped announcement from Spotify. In 2025 it landed December 3; in 2024, December 4 |
| Friends have Wrapped, you don't — or you're told you're not eligible | Not eligible this year | For 2025, Spotify's bar was 30 songs played for more than 30 seconds each, plus at least five different artists during the year |
| Wrapped opens but stories hang, cards won't share, or the feed is blank after launch day | App or platform fault | Run fixes 2 through 8 below, in order |
| Wrapped loads, but your top songs, artists or genres look wrong | Data deliberately excluded | Check Private Session and anything you excluded from your Taste Profile |
Two of those four rows are not fixable by reinstalling the app, which is exactly why the standard fix list leaves so many people stuck.
9 fixes when Spotify Wrapped is not showing up
Work through these in order. The first one costs nothing and resolves the majority of early-season cases.
-
Confirm Wrapped has launched. Check for this year's announcement from Spotify before anything else. If there's no announcement, stop — the rest of this list cannot conjure an experience that hasn't shipped.
-
Update the Spotify app. Spotify's 2025 instructions were explicit: make sure your app is up to date before looking for the Wrapped feed. Open the App Store or Google Play, search for Spotify, and tap Update if the button is there. Spotify's support site has dedicated articles for "Updating your Spotify app" and "Checking your Spotify app version" if you want to verify which build you're on.
-
Open it on your phone. For 2025, Spotify said you can find your Wrapped in the Spotify mobile app on iOS and Android. If you've been hunting on the desktop app or in a browser, that's likely the whole problem — go back to the phone.
-
Look at the top of your Home screen. Spotify describes the Wrapped feed as sitting at the top of Home, and it acts as the hub for everything: your data stories, editorial "Best of" playlists, and any artist, podcaster or author messages included that year.
-
Search for it by name. If the feed isn't surfacing, use search. In 2025 the instruction was to search "2025 Wrapped" — so use the current year plus "Wrapped". The same trick worked for the Wrapped Party feature, which could be found at the end of the personalized experience, in the Wrapped hub, or by searching "Wrapped Party".
-
Check which account you're logged into. If you have a work profile, an old email, or a family member's login on your phone, you may be looking at an account that barely listened this year. Tap your profile picture and confirm the account name matches the one you actually use.
-
Force quit and reopen the app. A clean restart clears a lot of half-loaded states. It has a useful side effect too: Spotify says a Private Session ends automatically when you restart the app, so a restart also rules out one of the data-exclusion causes below.
-
Reinstall Spotify. This is the documented last-resort step — Spotify maintains a "Reinstalling your Spotify app" support article for it. You'll need to log back in afterwards, so have your login method handy. If Wrapped still won't appear after a clean install on an up-to-date mobile app, the problem is almost certainly not your app.
-
Compare your year against the eligibility bar. For a personalized 2025 Wrapped, Spotify required at least 30 songs streamed for more than 30 seconds each, and at least five different artists during the year. If you're a light listener, a new subscriber, or you spent the year mostly on podcasts, that's the likeliest answer — and there is no fix, only next year.
Where to look for Wrapped: the Home feed and search
To be concrete about the three places Spotify pointed people to in 2025, because "it's not there" often means "it's not where I expected":
- Open the Spotify app on your iPhone or Android phone.
- On the Home screen, scroll to the very top. The Wrapped feed appears above your usual shelves.
- If it isn't there, tap Search and type the year plus Wrapped — for the 2025 edition, that was "2025 Wrapped".
- Inside the feed, tap any story to open it. Share cards have a "share" button that sends them via Spotify Messages or out to social apps.
That was also where Spotify put the extras: Wrapped Party at the end of the personalized experience or in the Wrapped hub, plus the editorial "Best of" playlists in the same feed. If you want the broader walkthrough of the feed and its stories, our guide to Spotify Wrapped and how to find your top songs covers the experience itself rather than the troubleshooting.
Wrapped is missing artists or looks wrong — what actually gets counted
This is the category nobody's fix list explains, and it's the one where "not working" usually means "working exactly as designed".
Two kinds of listening are deliberately kept out of Wrapped.
Private Session listening. Spotify is direct about it: "Listening during a Private session won't affect your recommendations or appear in your Wrapped." Private Session is an account-level setting, so switching it on from one device applies it everywhere, including TVs and speakers. It turns itself off after 6 hours, or when you restart the app — but a forgotten session can still swallow a weekend of listening. To check it on mobile: tap your profile picture, tap Settings and privacy, tap Privacy and social, then look under Listening activity for the Private Session switch. On desktop, click your profile picture and look for Private session.
Anything excluded from your Taste Profile. If you used "Exclude from your taste profile" on a playlist, or "Exclude track from your taste profile" on a song, Spotify says those streams "will not be included in any Wrapped story or data point (e.g. top artist or top songs), other than total listening time." That is the precise shape of the complaint "my minutes look right but my top artist is wrong": the minutes still count, the attribution doesn't.
Three details that matter when you're diagnosing this:
- Exclusions apply to past and future streams from that playlist or track, not just new ones.
- Changing an exclusion takes effect within 48 hours, and some recommendations may not update until the following week. There is no instant refresh.
- If you played a song that lives on an excluded playlist but played it from somewhere else — say, from Liked Songs — those streams still count toward your Taste Profile.
To undo it, open the playlist or track, tap the menu near the top, and choose "Include in your taste profile" (or "Include track in your taste profile"). Our deeper explainer on what it means to exclude a playlist from your taste profile walks through what else changes alongside Wrapped.
Also worth remembering: that sleep playlist you excluded in February, or the kids' music you muted out of your profile, was excluded on purpose. Re-including it won't retroactively rebuild a Wrapped that has already been generated, and Spotify doesn't document that it would.
Not eligible or tired of waiting? See your top songs any day of the year
Here's the honest version of the answer the rest of page one won't give you: if Wrapped hasn't launched, or your account doesn't clear the eligibility bar, there is no trick that produces a Wrapped. But you can still see your listening data — and seeing it is also the fastest way to tell a display bug from a data problem.
Free Your Music Stats for Spotify is free and works any day of the year, not just in December. It shows your top artists, top songs, top genres, listening time and a breakdown of your library, plus a shareable collage. If you listen on more than one service, the same free music listening stats tool covers 20+ services, so an Apple Music or Tidal library isn't left out of the picture.
Use it as a diagnostic. If your top artists look plausible there and your Wrapped stories look nothing like them, you're probably dealing with excluded data rather than a broken app. If the numbers look thin in both places, that's your eligibility answer.
It connects through Spotify's official login, so your password is never shared, and it does not download tracks, rip audio or touch DRM — worth saying out loud, because a lot of "Wrapped not working" results are really adverts for downloader software that has nothing to do with your problem.
For the year-round habit rather than the December scramble, our Spotify Wrapped alternative guide compares the options, and how to see your Spotify stats and listening history covers where the raw history lives.
FAQ
My friend has Wrapped and I don't. Is my app broken?
Probably not. Spotify's support page says Wrapped and some Wrapped features may not be available to all users because they're subject to eligibility criteria. Rather than reinstalling repeatedly, check your year against the published bar: for 2025, that meant 30 songs played for over 30 seconds each and five or more different artists.
Do I need Premium for Wrapped?
No. The 2025 experience was available to both Free and Premium users, in nearly all markets where Spotify operates. A missing Wrapped isn't a signal that you need to upgrade.
Do podcasts and audiobooks count?
Yes, in the editions Spotify has described. The 2025 Minutes Listened story covered time across music, podcasts and audiobooks, and the experience included Top Podcasts and a Top Audiobook Genre story alongside the music ones.
I forgot I left Private Session on. Did I lose the whole year?
Only the listening that happened while it was active. Spotify says Private Session affects only what you listen to while it's on, and it switches off automatically after 6 hours or when you restart the app — so the damage is bounded by those sessions, not by your whole year.
Can I fix my Wrapped numbers after it's released?
You can change what counts going forward by turning off Private Session and re-including excluded playlists or tracks, and those changes take effect within 48 hours. Spotify doesn't document any way to regenerate a Wrapped that has already been produced, so treat this as housekeeping for next year — and use a year-round stats view in the meantime.
