When Does Spotify Wrapped Come Out? 2026 Timing, Cutoff Dates and How to See Your Stats Now

As of 13 October 2026, Spotify has not announced a release date for this year's Wrapped. So when does Spotify Wrapped come out? Nobody outside Spotify knows the 2026 date yet. What we do know is the launch pattern, which has been unusually consistent since 2021, the eligibility rules Spotify published for 2025, and the two account settings that quietly remove your listening from the recap. This guide covers all three, and shows you how to see your top artists, songs and genres today instead of waiting for December.
When does Spotify Wrapped come out? The short answer
- There is no confirmed date. Spotify has not announced when Wrapped 2026 launches.
- The pattern: every edition since 2021 has launched on a Wednesday in late November or early December. The most recent one, 2025 Wrapped, went live on Wednesday 3 December 2025.
- The date circulating online, Wednesday 2 December 2026, comes from Official Charts, which published it explicitly as its own prediction rather than a date confirmed by Spotify.
- Reading the pattern rather than the rumours: a launch in the last days of November or the first week of December 2026 is the reasonable expectation. That is a projection, not a date.
One rule for the rest of this article: anything dated 2026 is unconfirmed. Anything dated 2025 or earlier comes from Spotify's own Wrapped announcement and support pages, or from Official Charts' log of past release dates.
Every Spotify Wrapped release date since 2018 (and what it suggests for 2026)
| Edition | Launch date | Day of week |
|---|---|---|
| 2018 | 6 December 2018 | Thursday |
| 2019 | 5 December 2019 | Thursday |
| 2020 | 1 December 2020 | Tuesday |
| 2021 | 1 December 2021 | Wednesday |
| 2022 | 30 November 2022 | Wednesday |
| 2023 | 29 November 2023 | Wednesday |
| 2024 | 4 December 2024 | Wednesday |
| 2025 | 3 December 2025 | Wednesday |
| 2026 | Not announced | Unknown |
Release dates for 2018 to 2025 as logged by Official Charts; the 2025 date matches Spotify's own newsroom announcement, dated 3 December 2025.
Two patterns are worth noting. First, the day: the last five editions all landed on a Wednesday. Second, the window: Official Charts notes that Wrapped has arrived no later than 4 December in each of the past five years. If Spotify repeats itself, the first two Wednesdays of the late-November-to-early-December window are the dates to watch.
What the pattern does not tell you is whether Spotify will change its approach this year. Wrapped has been reworked every year, and the company has given no public signal about 2026 timing. Treat any site stating a firm date as a guess, however confidently it is written.
When does Spotify stop counting? The tracking cutoff explained
This is the question that actually changes your behaviour, and it is the one with the least official information behind it.
Spotify's 2025 Wrapped announcement explains how to find Wrapped and who qualifies for it, but it does not name a date when listening stopped counting. Spotify's evergreen Wrapped support page does not publish a cutoff either. So there is no Spotify-published cutoff for 2026, and there was no clearly published one for 2025.
What about the widely repeated idea that everything after 31 October is ignored? Official Charts, which tracks the Wrapped cycle each year, says 31 October is not necessarily the cutoff, and reported that Spotify confirmed 2025 Wrapped captured listening from January until mid-November. That mid-November window does not appear on any Spotify-owned page we checked, so treat it as third-party reporting rather than a rule you can bank on.
The practical takeaway: the data behind Wrapped has historically closed some weeks before launch day, not at the end of October, and Spotify has confirmed nothing about 2026. If a particular artist is close to your top five, the time to listen is now rather than the week Wrapped drops.
What still counts between now and the cutoff
If you want your real listening reflected in this year's recap, these are the things that are within your control today:
- Play songs for longer than 30 seconds. Spotify's 2025 eligibility rule counted songs streamed for more than 30 seconds each, so skipping through tracks after a few seconds does nothing for you.
- Spread your listening across artists. The 2025 bar required at least five different artists.
- Turn Private Session off. Listening during a Private session does not appear in your Wrapped at all.
- Review your taste profile exclusions. Anything you excluded earlier in the year is stripped from your Wrapped stories.
- Remember that hiding or snoozing a track is not the same as excluding it. Neither of those options affects your taste profile, so hidden tracks you still play continue to count.
- Know the loophole in exclusions: if you listen to songs that sit on an excluded playlist but play them from somewhere else, such as Liked Songs, those streams still count towards your taste profile.
Wrapped eligibility: the minimum listening you need
Wrapped is not automatic. Spotify's support page states plainly that Wrapped and some Wrapped features may not be available to all users, as they are subject to specific eligibility criteria.
For 2025, Spotify published the bar: to get a personalised Wrapped experience you needed to have streamed at least 30 songs for more than 30 seconds each, and listened to at least five different artists that year. Streams from Private Mode, or from songs and playlists excluded from your Taste Profile, did not count towards that eligibility.
Two more things from the 2025 rules that often surprise people. You did not need Premium: the experience was available to both Free and Premium users, in nearly all markets where Spotify operates. And it was a mobile experience, found in the Spotify app for iOS and Android.
Spotify has not confirmed the eligibility rules for 2026. If they carry over, the bar is low enough that any regular listener clears it, but a lapsed account or one used mainly for background audio might not.
Why Private Session and excluded playlists can cost you a personalised Wrapped
These are the two silent disqualifiers. Neither throws an error, and both are easy to forget you switched on months ago.
Private Session hides your listening activity: it keeps plays out of Friends Activity, stops your recently played artists from updating on your profile, and stops that listening being used to personalise recommendations. Spotify's support page is explicit that listening during a Private session will not appear in your Wrapped. It is an account-level setting, so turning it on from one device applies it everywhere, and it switches off automatically after six hours or when you restart the app.
To check it on mobile:
- Tap your profile picture at the top.
- Tap Settings and privacy.
- Tap Privacy and social.
- Under Listening activity, switch Private Session off.
On desktop, click your profile picture at the top and look at Private session there.
Taste profile exclusions are the bigger one, because they are permanent until you undo them. Spotify's support documentation states that streams from excluded playlists or tracks will not be included in any Wrapped story or data point, such as top artist or top songs, other than total listening time. So an excluded sleep-sounds playlist still inflates your minutes listened while contributing nothing to your rankings.
To put a playlist or track back in, open it, tap the menu near the top, and choose Include in your taste profile for playlists or Include track in your taste profile for tracks. Changes take effect within 48 hours. Our guide to what happens when you exclude from your taste profile walks through what else that setting changes.
Don't want to wait? See your top songs and artists today
The uncomfortable part of Wrapped season is that you are waiting for data that already exists. Your 2026 listening is recorded; Spotify just hands it back once a year.
Free Your Music's Spotify stats exist for exactly that gap. Connect Spotify and you get your top artists, top songs, top genres and total listening time generated on demand, plus a shareable collage built from your album art. It is free, and it works on any day of the year rather than once in December.
- Download Free Your Music on your phone or computer.
- Connect your Spotify account using Spotify's official sign-in. Your password is never shared.
- Open the Stats section in the app.
- Browse your top songs, artists, genres and listening time, and export the collage in a tap.
Access is read-only, data is stored in the EU, and you can delete it any time. No playlist of yours is changed.
There is also a free clue inside Spotify itself: as Official Charts points out, your On Repeat playlist reflects the tracks you have been returning to most, even though it is not an official ranking. For the full picture of what Spotify exposes and where to find it, see our guide to Spotify Wrapped and how to find your top songs.
Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer: stats without waiting for a recap
If Spotify is not your only service, the same tool covers more of your listening. Free Your Music Stats gives full listening stats, meaning top artists, songs, genres and minutes, for Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer and Spotify. For SoundCloud, Tidal, YouTube, Qobuz and Boomplay it gives library stats instead: playlists, liked songs and albums. Where a service reports no play times, those sections are marked rather than guessed at.
Apple Music listeners who want the native route as well can follow our walkthrough of Apple Music Replay and how to see your listening stats.
Wrapped day checklist: how to get yours the moment it drops
- Update the Spotify app on iOS or Android. In 2025 Spotify specifically told users to make sure the app was up to date.
- On launch day, look for the Wrapped feed at the top of your Home screen. That is where the 2025 hub lived.
- If it is not there, use search. The 2025 experience could be found by searching "2025 Wrapped", so the equivalent search term is the obvious thing to try.
- Don't assume you need Premium. The 2025 experience was open to Free and Premium accounts in nearly all Spotify markets.
- Save the playlist. 2025 Wrapped came with a personalised Your Top Songs playlist that showed how many times you streamed each of your top 100 tracks. It is worth keeping a copy, and Free Your Music can carry that playlist to another service later if you ever switch.
- If the feed never appears, work through eligibility first, then the app-level fixes in our guide to Spotify Wrapped not working.
FAQ
Is Spotify Wrapped 2026 out yet?
No. As of 13 October 2026 there is no Wrapped 2026 experience and no announced date.
Can I see Wrapped on desktop or the web player?
Spotify's 2025 announcement pointed users to the Spotify mobile app for iOS and Android, and did not announce a desktop or web version of the experience. Assume mobile unless Spotify says otherwise this year.
Do podcasts and audiobooks count towards Wrapped?
In 2025 they did. The Minutes Listened story covered music, podcasts and audiobooks, and the experience included Top Podcasts and a Top Audiobook Genre story alongside the music stats.
What did the 2025 experience actually include?
The returning stories were Minutes Listened, Top Songs with the accompanying playlist, Top Artists, Top Genres, Top Podcasts and artist clips. New or updated for 2025 were Listening Age, a Top Song Quiz, Top Albums, Top Audiobook Genre, author and podcaster clips, Top Artist Sprint, Fan Leaderboard, Clubs and Listening Archive, plus a Wrapped Party feature for watching with friends. Spotify changes this line-up every year, so treat it as context rather than a preview of 2026.
Who topped Wrapped in 2025?
Bad Bunny was Spotify's most-streamed artist globally for 2025, and Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars' "Die With A Smile" was the most-streamed song worldwide with more than 1.7 billion streams during the year.
Will checking my stats early change my Wrapped?
No. Reading your listening data does not alter it. Connecting Spotify to a stats tool is read-only, and your plays continue to count towards Wrapped exactly as before.
