Song order, and why Spotify Liked Songs move oldest first

On this page3 sections ▾

FreeYourMusic adds the songs to the destination in the same order as in the source playlist. When you change the order in the source later, auto-sync copies the new order, where the destination lets apps arrange songs. Some services do not, so the order there can drift.

Which services keep the order?

Amazon Music, Deezer, Pandora, Qobuz, SoundCloud, Spotify, YouTube and YouTube Music let FreeYourMusic arrange the songs in a playlist, so the order is kept there.

Apple Music, Audiomack, Audius, Boomplay, JioSaavn, Tidal and VK Music do not let apps move songs inside a playlist. FreeYourMusic adds the songs in the source order, but it cannot move them afterwards, so a later change of the order in the source is not copied there. The transfer shows this limitation: the service "does not allow to synchronise order of songs".

Why do my Spotify Liked Songs move oldest first?

Spotify lists your Liked Songs with the newest song at the top. FreeYourMusic adds them to the destination from the oldest to the newest, so the song you liked last is also the newest one on the new service.

Frequently asked questions

My Apple Music playlist is in a different order. Can I fix it?

Apple Music does not let apps change the order of songs in a playlist. Sort the playlist in the Music app instead.

Does auto-sync change the order of songs I added myself?

Auto-sync follows the order of the source playlist. Songs you added by hand to the destination stay there and show as "Manually added".
