On iPhone, iPad and Android, install and update FreeYourMusic through your app store. On Mac, Windows and Linux, download it from our download page, and the app tells you when an update is ready.
Install on iPhone or iPad
Install FreeYourMusic on iPhone or iPad
- Open FreeYourMusic on the App Store.
- Tap "Get" and confirm the download.
- Open FreeYourMusic from your Home Screen.
The App Store updates the app for you when automatic updates are on. To update by hand, open the App Store, tap your profile picture and update FreeYourMusic from the list.

- Open FreeYourMusic on Google Play.
- Tap "Install".
- Open FreeYourMusic from your app drawer.
Google Play updates the app for you when automatic updates are on. To update by hand, open FreeYourMusic in Google Play and tap "Update".
Install on Mac

- Download the Mac version from the download page.
- Open the downloaded file and drag FreeYourMusic into the Applications folder.
- Open FreeYourMusic from Applications or Launchpad.
Install on Windows

- Download the Windows installer from the download page.
- Run the installer and follow the steps on screen.
- Open FreeYourMusic from the Start menu.
Install on Linux

- Download the AppImage from the download page.
- Make the file executable: open its properties and allow it to run as a program, or run chmod +x on it in a terminal.
- Double-click the AppImage to start FreeYourMusic.
How do updates work on desktop?
The desktop app checks for a new version when it starts and then every hour. It never downloads an update without asking you first.
Update FreeYourMusic on Mac, Windows or Linux
- When a new version is out, you see "Update available". Click "Download".
- Wait while "Downloading update..." shows the progress.
- When you see "Update ready", click "Install & Restart". The app closes, updates and opens again.
Check for an update yourself
- In the app, open the Profile tab and choose "Check for updates" in the "App" section.
- On a Mac, you can also use the FreeYourMusic menu and choose "Check for Updates...".
- On Windows and Linux, you can also use the File menu and choose "Check for Updates...".
Does an update keep my transfers?
Yes. Updating does not reset the app. Your transfers, connected services and Premium stay as they are. Only resetting the app data clears them, see Reset app data and reinstall.

Where do I download FreeYourMusic for my computer?
From the download page on freeyourmusic.com. It has the files for Mac, Windows and Linux.
Does the desktop app update itself?
It checks for updates on its own, but it asks before it downloads. Click "Download" and then "Install & Restart" when you see the update message.
I cannot find "Check for updates" on my phone. Why?
On iPhone, iPad and Android, the App Store and Google Play handle updates, so the button is only in the desktop app.
