Your connected accounts are the music service accounts FreeYourMusic may read from and add music to. You find them all in the Profile tab, under "Connected accounts".
Add an account
The app asks you to connect an account when you pick a service for a transfer. You can also add one beforehand:
Connect a music account
- Open the Profile tab.
- Under "Connected accounts", tap "New connection".
- Pick the music service.
- Sign in on the service's page and approve the permissions it asks for.
Signing in works differently per service. How signing in works explains each way and what the app keeps.
Can I connect two accounts of the same service?
Yes. FreeYourMusic supports more than one account per service. When you pick a service that already has an account connected, choose the account you want, or tap "...or connect to new account" to add another.
Sign in again (reconnect)
Music services end sign-ins from time to time. When that happens, the app tells you in one of these ways:
- The account shows "needs reauthentication" or "NOT AUTHENTICATED".
- A card says "You've been logged out of" the service, with "Tap to fix".
- A transfer shows "LOGGED OUT" or "RELOGIN".
Reconnect a music account
- Tap the message, or open the Profile tab and tap the service under "Connected accounts".
- Tap the account that needs attention ("Tap here to login again").
- Sign in on the service's page.
- Your transfers carry on with the new sign-in.
Remove an account
Remove a music account from FreeYourMusic
- Open the Profile tab and tap the service under "Connected accounts".
- On a phone, tap the unlink icon next to the account. On a computer, click "Unlink account".
- Read the "Are you sure?" message. It tells you what happens to the transfers that used this account.
- Tap "DELETE" to confirm.
- You cannot start new transfers with that account.
- A transfer that is still running with the account is stopped.
- Playlists that FreeYourMusic already added to your music service stay there.
To take FreeYourMusic's access away completely, also remove FreeYourMusic in the connected-apps or privacy settings of the music service.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I keep getting logged out of a music service?
The service ended the sign-in, for example after a password change, or because its sign-ins expire after a while. Reconnect the account and your transfers carry on. If it keeps happening, read I cannot sign in to a music service.
Does removing an account delete my playlists?
No. Playlists on your music services are never removed by disconnecting. The confirmation message tells you what happens to the transfer list in the app.
