FreeYourMusic can move playlists and albums to and from YouTube Music, and add songs to your YouTube Music likes. You sign in with your Google account on Google's own page, inside the app.
What do I need?
- A Google account that you use for YouTube Music.
- A YouTube channel on that account. YouTube Music needs a channel before apps can create playlists for you.
- At least one playlist you made on music.youtube.com. Creating it there once accepts the YouTube Music terms for your account.
How do I connect YouTube Music?
Connect YouTube Music to FreeYourMusic
- Open FreeYourMusic and pick YouTube Music as the service you move from or to.
- A Google sign-in window opens inside the app. Sign in with your Google account.
- When your YouTube Music library opens in that window, FreeYourMusic closes it and YouTube Music is connected.
YouTube Music has no sign-in for apps like the other services. So FreeYourMusic keeps the session cookies from that window, the same way your browser stays signed in. Your password is typed on Google's page and FreeYourMusic does not keep it. How signing in works.
What can I move with YouTube Music?
| Service | Playlists | Liked songs (read) | Liked songs (write) | Albums | Artists |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube Music | Yes | Not confirmed | Yes | Yes | No |
Artist transfers do not work with YouTube Music. Album transfers need Premium, see the pricing page.
Limits
- One YouTube Music playlist holds up to 5,000 songs. A longer playlist is split into more than one playlist on YouTube Music.
- YouTube Music does not let apps look songs up by ISRC, the code that identifies a recording. FreeYourMusic matches by title, artist and album instead, so check the matches of rare songs and live versions. How matching works.
How do I fix YouTube Music errors?
- "You need to accept YouTube Music TOS on music.youtube.com by creating your first playlist there". Open music.youtube.com in a browser, create one playlist, then connect again.
- "To unlock the full range of features in the app, you'll need to set up a YouTube Music channel". Create a YouTube channel for your Google account, then tap "RETRY".
- "We could not read your YouTube Music account". Open music.youtube.com in your browser, check that you can see your library, and try again.
- "YouTube Music, needs reauthentication". Your YouTube Music session ended. FreeYourMusic cannot renew it on its own, so connect YouTube Music again and the transfer can carry on.
More fixes are in I cannot sign in to a music service.
Does FreeYourMusic show YouTube Music stats?
No. YouTube Music does not share listening data with apps, so FreeYourMusic cannot show YouTube Music stats. FreeYourMusic Stats works with the services that do.
