Getting started

What is FreeYourMusic and what does it do?

On this page6 sections ▾

FreeYourMusic is an app that copies your music library from one streaming service to another. You connect the service you are leaving, connect the service you are moving to, pick what to move, and the app rebuilds your library there.

What does FreeYourMusic move?

  • Playlists you made, and playlists by others that you follow.
  • Liked songs, where both services allow it.
  • Albums and artists you saved, with Premium.

It works with 15 streaming services: Amazon Music, Apple Music, Audiomack, Audius, Boomplay, Deezer, JioSaavn, Pandora, Qobuz, SoundCloud, Spotify, Tidal, VK Music, YouTube and YouTube Music. It can also save your library to an Excel file and import it again later. Napster works through the Napster converter.

What each service can send and receive differs. What can and cannot be transferred shows it service by service.

What FreeYourMusic does not do

  • It does not move audio files and it does not download music. It moves the information about your music: song titles, artists, albums and playlist names. The new service plays the songs from its own catalogue.
  • It does not delete anything from the service you are leaving. Your old library stays as it is.
  • It does not need your password for most services. You sign in on the service itself, and the app gets permission to read and add music. How signing in works.

What is free and what needs Premium?

The free version moves up to 300 songs, or 600 songs in total after a free email sign-up. No card is needed. The allowance is for life, so songs from transfers you delete still count.

Frequently asked questions

Is FreeYourMusic free?

Yes, for your first 300 songs, or 600 songs in total after a free email sign-up. Premium removes the limit.

Does FreeYourMusic delete my playlists from my old service?

No. The app reads your old library and copies it. Nothing is removed from the service you are leaving.

Does FreeYourMusic download music?

No. It moves song, album, artist and playlist information, not audio. You listen on the new service as usual.

Is FreeYourMusic legit?

Yes. FreeYourMusic is made by Hernas OÜ in Tallinn, Estonia, and has been available since 2015.

Do I need an account on both music services?

Yes. You sign in to the service you are leaving and to the service you are moving to. Both accounts stay yours, and FreeYourMusic only reads from one and adds to the other.
